House Mortimer
Overview
In the heart of a leafy Johannesburg suburb, affectionately known as "The Parks," a cozy new house has been carefully tucked away on a property already home to a larger family residence. Designed as a sanctuary for the grandparents, this compact retreat allows them to embrace retirement while staying close to their loved ones.

House Mortimer
Every detail of its placement was considered—to catch the soft streams of natural light and preserve a sense of privacy from the main house. It features a serene bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and an open-plan living space where form and function meet effortlessly.
The kitchen, both a focal point and a practical divide, organizes the space so the lounge and dining areas flow naturally, ensuring everything has its perfect place.
But the real magic lies in the way the indoors and outdoors blend. Large windows and doors to the north invite sunlight to pour in, while a charming stoep—a classic South African veranda—extends the living area outward. It doubles as a shading element, softening the light and creating a seamless connection to the garden.

Design New Stories
Familiar furniture pieces and meaningful design details were carefully woven into the space, offering the grandparents not only comfort and luxury but also the warmth of nostalgia. It’s a home where they can truly feel at ease—close to family, surrounded by beauty, and steeped in love.
